Robots coming to deliver Zamzam water in Saudi's Holy mosques

Jeddah: The Presidency of the two Holy mosques in Saudi introduced 'smart robots' to distribute the sacred water of Zamzam. The robots will do away with the involvement of humans in the distribution process, Arab News reported citing Zamzam Watering Department (ZWD) for services and field affairs.

ZWD deputy head Badr Al-Luqmani said that the project will satisfy the precautionary measures against Covid-19 using artificial intelligence and will sustain devotees' service. The robot is equipped to load 30 bottles in 20 seconds and distribute them in 10 minutes.

It will run for eight hours straight and would not collide with or obstruct people. The project has received certification from many, including the European CS certificate, Al-Luqmani said.

The project is developing on a large scale, improving the robots to carry bags and portable cylinders inside the Grand Mosque. ZWD wishes to provide excellent quality as well as security for Grand Mosque visitors, he said.
