Indian Consulate in Jeddah celebrates 77th Republic Day

The Consulate General of India in Jeddah held celebrations for India’s 77th Republic Day, with members of the Indian community from across the western region of Saudi Arabia taking part in the program.

The event began with senior consulate officials and their family members paying floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. This was followed by the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by Consul General Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri and the singing of the National Anthem.

During the ceremony, Consul General Suri read the message of the President of India addressed to the nation and Indians worldwide on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day.

Addressing the community, he spoke about the professionalism and dedication of the Indian diaspora and their role in supporting ties between India and Saudi Arabia. He also referred to initiatives undertaken by the consulate to increase engagement with the community, including outreach programs, consular services, cultural activities and wellbeing initiatives.

Patriotic cultural performances were presented by students of the International Indian School, Jeddah, adding to the program. Following the performances, the Consul General felicitated the participants and interacted with members of the Indian community.

The celebrations concluded with a special exhibition of Indian cuisine organised by the community, highlighting the diversity and traditions of Indian culinary culture.
