India-Saudi Arabia sign water resources cooperation agreement

India and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in water resources management, marking a new step in their strategic partnership.

The agreement was finalised during the Saudi Water Week conference in Jeddah.

It was exchanged by Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley and Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan.

Fahad Suri, Consul General of India in Jeddah, also attended the ceremony.

The MoU covers cooperation in key areas including water resources planning, sustainable water management and modern irrigation systems.

The agreement will also support capacity building in the water sector, allowing both countries to exchange expertise, best practices and advanced technologies.

Officials said the partnership will help strengthen collaboration between India and Saudi Arabia in an area increasingly important to long-term development and resource security.
