Indian national among two killed in Dammam airport attack
An Indian national and a Saudi citizen were killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport on Wednesday evening, with eight others injured, Saudi Arabia’s aviation authority said.
Two Indians were among the injured, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s update on Thursday, October 22.
The other injured were a Saudi citizen, two Yemenis, two Bangladeshis and a Nepalese national. Their injuries ranged from minor to critical, and all were receiving treatment in hospitals.
The October 21 attack also caused property damage. GACA said it was coordinating with security agencies to assess the damage, verify the safety of airport facilities and protect passengers and staff.
Flight operations were initially suspended. The authority subsequently confirmed that services had resumed and air traffic had returned to normal.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said it was seeking further details and contacting the affected families.
It expressed condolences to the family of the Indian national who died and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
