Indian Embassy issues safety advisory for nationals in Saudi amid Houthi attacks

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has advised Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to take shelter indoors and follow official safety instructions amid heightened security concerns following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The advisory urges people to stay away from windows, balconies and rooftops, avoid open spaces and move to an interior room until the danger passes. Those outdoors have been asked to enter the nearest building or seek protection behind a solid barrier.

People have also been cautioned against gathering in crowded or hazardous areas and taking photographs of ongoing incidents. Anyone receiving an emergency alert while driving should stop safely, keeping away from bridges and tall buildings.

For emergencies, residents can call 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, while 998 is the emergency number for other regions.

The advisory follows drone and missile attacks attributed to Houthi rebels, including an October 10 strike near Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport that killed an Indian national and injured several others.

The Embassy has urged Indians to remain alert and follow updates issued through official Saudi channels.
