Doha: A four-story building collapsed in Mansoura, in Doha’s Bin Durham neighbourhood. One person was confirmed dead and seven survivors were found by rescuers.
The incident took place around 8.18 am. Authorities said that the rubble is being searched for more survivors, reported Al Jazeera. The building has many Pakistani, Egyptian, and Filipino families, said a local resident. It is a few metres behind the Lulu Express, B-Ring Road.
A video of the collapsed building was shared by Qatar Day on Twitter. One part of the building was seen to have fallen onto another building next to it. In some online videos, car alarms were sounding. "Part of the structure collapsed onto a three-storeyed structure right beside it. Authorities did not yet offer an explanation for the incident. Such accidents are rare in Qatar which is known for sleek high-rises and clean streets.
