Iran reinstates air defence systems damaged in Israel conflict

Iran has restored several of its air defence systems that were damaged during last month’s conflict with Israel, according to a report by Iran’s Defah Press news agency.

The announcement was made by Mahmoud Mousavi, the deputy for operations in Iran’s regular army.

“Some of our air defences were damaged, this is not something we can hide, but our colleagues have used domestic resources and replaced them with pre-arranged systems that were stored in suitable locations in order to keep the airspace secure,” Mousavi said.

During the intense conflict in June, Israel’s air force reportedly gained dominance over Iranian airspace, inflicting significant damage on Iran’s air defence infrastructure. In response, Iranian forces launched waves of missiles and drones toward Israeli territory.

Prior to the confrontation, Iran's air defence arsenal included its indigenous long-range system Bavar-373, alongside the Russian-made S-300. The latest update from Defah Press did not indicate the acquisition of any new foreign defence systems since the conflict.

This is not the first time Iran has responded to Israeli strikes with a show of recovery.

After Israeli forces targeted Iranian missile production sites in October last year, Iran demonstrated its operational Russian-made air defence systems in a subsequent military exercise, signaling its readiness and resilience.
