Kerala govt to honour Dadasaheb Phalke award recipient Mohanlal at mega event

Thiruvananthapuram: A major event called ‘Malayalam Vanolam, Lalsalam’ will be held at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 4 to celebrate the achievements of actor Mohanlal, who recently received the Dadasaheb Phalke award. The programme is being organised by the state government.


Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is expected to felicitate the actor, while Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian will chair the function. Ministers V Sivankutty, G R Anil, and several others are also scheduled to attend.


Prominent actresses, including Urvashi, Shobhana, Manju Warrier, Parvathy, Karthika, Meena, Nithya Menen and Lissy, are set to recount their experiences of working with Mohanlal, TNIE reported.


Well-known singers such as Sujatha Mohan, Shwetha Mohan, Sithara Krishnakumar, Arya Dhayal, Manjari and Jyotsna Radhakrishnan will perform popular songs from his films.


Speaking to reporters, Saji Cherian remarked that Malayalam cinema has a century-long history and that Mohanlal has contributed significantly to half of it.


The logo of the event was unveiled at the press meet, which was attended by Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil, General Education Minister V Sivankutty, MLAs V Joy and Antony Raju, Cultural Affairs Director Divya S Iyer, KSFDC chairman K Madhu and Kerala Cultural Activists Welfare Fund Board chairman K Madhupal.
