Mohanlal announces Uganda’s Ghetto Kids will feature in ‘Operation Ganga’
Chennai: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has announced that Uganda’s popular dance group, Ghetto Kids, will be part of his upcoming action thriller ‘Operation Ganga’, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan.
Sharing the news on social media, Mohanlal said he was delighted to have the group join the film, which is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies.
“Delighted to have the incredibly talented @ghettokidstfug join me in my upcoming film, ‘Operation Ganga’, directed by Vishnu Mohan and produced by Shri Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies,” the actor wrote.
Mohanlal also posted a video featuring himself with members of the group. He said he had watched the Ghetto Kids perform alongside Shakira at the World Cup final in the United States and was impressed by their energy and talent.
“Their energy and talent left a lasting impression on me and now, I am so happy to have them join me in my next film ‘Operation Ganga’,” he said.
The announcement comes days after actress Bhagyashrii Borse, who plays the female lead, said that the film’s schedule in Georgia had been completed. Sharing photographs with the unit on Instagram, she wrote, “Schedule wrap! With my cutest boys!” and later added, “See you in a bit Georgia.”
In another post, Bhagyashrii expressed her happiness at working with Mohanlal. “To be your co-actor feels like a blessing. Every day of shoot, I get to see cinema through your eyes and learn from you,” she wrote.
‘Operation Ganga’, earlier referred to by the working title L367, is based on India’s evacuation mission to bring back Indian citizens, including thousands of students stranded in Ukraine after the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The film, which carries the tagline ‘A Nation’s Promise’, will portray one of India’s most daring cross-border evacuation operations.
Apart from Mohanlal and Bhagyashrii Borse, the film features Arjun Rampal, Parthiban and Adil Hussain in key roles.
Vishnu Mohan, known for directing the devotional hit ‘Meppadiyan’, is directing the project. The technical team includes cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, who worked on ‘Pushpa’ and ‘Pushpa 2’, and production designer Rajeevan, known for films such as ‘GOAT’, ‘Meiyazhagan’, ‘Amaran’ and ‘Kathanar’.
Action sequences have been choreographed by Sea Young Oh, known for ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Kill’, while Shashwat Sachdev is composing the music. The crew also includes editor Shameer Mohammed and sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, whose credits include ‘Dhurandhar’, ‘Uri’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Padmaavat’.
The film’s VFX is supervised by K. V. Sanjit, with costumes designed by Melvy J and makeup by Ronex Xavier. Gokulam Gopalan is producing the film, with Baiju Gopalan and V. C. Praveen as co-producers and Krishnamoorthy as executive producer.
