Panaji: In the case of the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phoghat, a court in Goa extended the judicial custody of two arrestees on Friday, PTI reported.
The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class extended the custody of Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh by 14 days, a police official said. Both were charged with murder and are housed in the central jail at Colvale, the official added.
It was on August 23, Sonali Phogat (43) was brought dead to a private hospital in Anjuna. Police had claimed that she was given some "obnoxious" substance, mixed with water, to drink.
According to the official, the court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation'sInvestigation's request to interrogate Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh in jail. The central agency is probing the case at the moment, and a team of the same is in Goa.
