Hyderabad: Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP) staged a demonstration outside Reliance Trends in Secunderabad Saturday, part of coordinated actions in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Pune targeting Mukesh Ambani's Reliance for its alleged deep ties to Israel amid the "genocide" in Palestine, backed by the US and others.
The group accused Reliance of two decades of complicity through investments in Israel's fuel storage and telecom, including a 2024 joint venture with Delta Galil and funding 117 startups via Jerusalem Innovation Incubator, Israeli Innovation Authority, OurCrowd, and Yissum. They claimed Reliance normalizes "Zionist narratives" via think-tanks like Observer Research Foundation, reaping huge profits at Palestinians' expense—echoing past protests at McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Starbucks, Tata, and Mahindra.
IPSP's Ibrahim highlighted the toll: over 71,000 Palestinians killed in two years, one-third children under 18, with 520 more deaths post-nominal ceasefire. Israel has razed 90% of Gaza housing and schools, over half its hospitals, and shot 2,000 seeking aid, he said.
Fellow member Geetha invoked India's anti-colonial icons like Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, and Sukhdev, urging adoption of the global Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement across economic, political, diplomatic, cultural, and academic fronts. With complicit firms worldwide suffering losses, boycotting Reliance is urgent, she stressed, demanding India cut all Israeli ties as children starve under state-induced famine, exposing US and imperialist hypocrisy. Globally, millions strike and protest against such complicity, IPSP noted.
