Prashant Kishore to form new party on Gandhi Jayanti

New Delhi: Prashant Kishore, the election strategist-turned-politician, announced that he will officially form his Jan Suraaj Abhiyaan party on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's 155th birth anniversary, Time of India reported.

Kishore announced in a press brief that the party will be active mainly in Bihar, and he is planning to hold eight separate state-level meetings involving more than 1.5 lakh party members. These meetings will process the formation of the party, its leadership, constitution, priorities of the party, etc., with all its officials.

Recently, Kishore said that his party will have around one crore people join it when it becomes fully fledged.

Kishore had told his Jan Suraaj Campaign Committee members that the caste system is dividing Bihar and the party must unite Bihar. He claimed that his initiative had started yielding results, and he urged members to educate the masses if they wanted to change the system.

He said that he has plans to contest all 243 seats in the state in Assembly elections in 2025. He said that his party has come with the mission to change the face of Bihar and not to win just 20-25 seats.

Kishore said that among the three major parties in the state, the RJD is the most nervous. He said that it would be seen that the lantern (RJD's symbol) would be left with no kerosene to be lit. Once the majority join Jan Suraaj's campaign, the lantern will be extinguished.

What gave Kishore the prompt to form the Jan Suraaj party was 97.26 per cent of West Champaran district voters voting "yes" to Kishore to form a political party in 2022.
