New Delhi: Argentine football legend Lionel Messi will meet the Chief Justice of India and the Army chief at a member of Parliament’s residence following his visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence, during the Delhi leg of his India tour on Monday.
The final day of the GOAT India Tour will also feature Messi exchanging greetings with two members of the Indian cricket team at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium.
The host MP is understood to be Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel, who served as president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for three terms.
Messi is scheduled to arrive in the national capital at 10:45 am. He will begin the day with a 50-minute ‘Meet and Greet’ session at a city hotel, followed by a 20-minute interaction with Prime Minister Modi at his official residence.
Following this, Messi will proceed to the residence of MP Praful Patel, where he is expected to meet the Argentina Ambassador to India, Mariano Agustin Caucino, as well as Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. The chief of the Enforcement Directorate, Rahul Navin, is also likely to be part of the select gathering, which will include a few top government officials.
After the VVIP meetings, Messi’s convoy will move to the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium for a series of events. At 3:30 pm, Messi is scheduled to enter the stadium via the walkway leading to the pitch. The cars will then depart directly for the airport once the GOAT India Tour programme concludes.
Upon arrival at the stadium, Messi will be welcomed with music before heading to a small soccer field where several Indian celebrities will participate in a match. He will greet the players and take group photographs with the teams.
A football clinic involving 22 children is planned from 3:55 pm to 4:15 pm. Messi will then proceed to the centre of the field, where two Indian cricketers will present him with gifts, and he will reciprocate by handing over two pre-signed jerseys to them.
