Love Jihad is not about love but demographic aggression, says VHP

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) welcomed the new law passed by Uttar Pradesh Government against 'Love Jihad' on Wednesday.

Alok Kumar, International Working President of VHP, said that Love Jihad is a demographic attack which requires strict law. The law is not against inter-faith marriages but to protect the rights and interests of minor girls trapped in marriages through fake identities, he added.

"Although the term 'love jihad' is not used in law, it is a fact that demographic violence exists which aims to increase the population of a community. It is not love but an intention to increase the population on the basis of religious instruction," claimed Kumar.

Kumar believes that Love Jihad is an organised activity funded by foreign agencies. In this context, the RSS and its affiliates have raised the issue of Muslim men misleading underage Hindu girls by hiding their religious identities several times.

"If someone wants to get married and convert, they must notify the District Magistrate two months in advance, and fill the prescribed form which allows the conversion. If the person is permitted, then they could do so," says the VHP leader.
