Bareilly/UP: Two Muslim women convert to the Hindu religion to marry Hindu men here. The wedding was solemnised as per Hindu rituals by Pandit K K Shankhadhar at the Agast Muni Ashram located in Madinath.
The women Iram Zaidi and Shahnaz became Swati and Suman, respectively, after getting converted. Iram Zaidi married Adesh Kumar, while Shahnaz married Ajay.
IANS reported that the women said that they have great faith in Hinduism.
They said, "Women do not get respect in Muslim society. Whenever Muslim men want, they pronounce talaq thrice and then perform halal," IANS quoted.
The priest "purified" two women, changed their names and marriage was conducted. They took the blessings of the priest after the wedding ceremony.
Further, hours after the wedding, Suman approached Bareilly police and alleged that she faced death threats from her parents and brother. They told her that they had prepared a grave for her, she alleged.
However, police assured the two women of complete protection.
