Ranchi: A man had approached the police, filing a complaint that sought action against police personnel and miscreants who opened fire at protestors in Ranchi violence. The man, an unfortunate father, had his 15-year-old son succumb to gunshot injuries, The Indian Express reported.
The complaint was received by the Daily Markert police.
The firing happened at a protest organized against the inflammatory remarks on Prophet Muhammed by the suspended BJP spokespersons.
The father, Alam, said in the complaint that he is a fruit seller and resides in Raeen Mohalla in the Hindpuri area. During the day of the incident, while he was at his business, a mob came out of an Urdu Library side, and his son joined it. A man named Bhairon Singh, among others, pelted stones at the mob from a nearby Hanuman Temple, and the mob pelted them back. Alam asserts that police fired at the mob at that instant, and bullets came from the temple terrace too. He says that between the firing from the terrace and police, his son fell down after being hit on the head.
Interestingly, Bhairon Singh is on bail on a case of attacking state Chief Minister Hemant Soren's convoy.
Though Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Jha promised that the police would gather evidence and bring the perpetrators to justice, he didn't respond to Alam's complaint.
Government sources maintained that though flASHES were seen at temple windows in video footage, it was not sure whether it was gunfire or camera flash.
