Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby boy passed away while receiving treatment at the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in the district hospital.
Civil surgeon GS Parihar confirmed the unfortunate demise, revealing the distressing circumstances surrounding the infant's death.
Reports suggest the infant sustained critical injuries after being subjected to a hot iron rod as part of a supposed ritual to alleviate his respiratory problems in Bandhwa village. The baby's condition worsened significantly following this harmful practice.
On December 21, as his health deteriorated, the child was rushed to the district hospital for immediate medical attention. Despite efforts to save him, the infant ultimately succumbed to pneumonia while undergoing treatment.
