GHMC orders meat shops, slaughterhouses in Hyderabad to shut on Sep 4 for Janmashtami

Hyderabad: Citing the observance of Janmashtami, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has mandated a one-day shutdown of all slaughterhouses and retail outlets selling meat and beef within its jurisdiction on September 4.

The closure order has been issued under Section 533(b) of the GHMC Act, 1955. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has sought full cooperation from the city’s police commissioners to assist municipal authorities in enforcing the ban on meat sales across the corporation’s limits.
