Vikrant Massey announces break from acting 'until time deems right'

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, known for his roles in 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report, has announced that he is taking a break from films to "recalibrate" and focus on his personal life. The 37-year-old actor shared this decision on Instagram on Monday, stating that it was time to reconnect with his family and himself as a husband, father, and son.

Massey’s announcement comes shortly after the release of 'The Sabarmati Report,' which explored the aftermath of the 2002 Godhra train burning incident. During the film's promotions, he disclosed that he had received death threats on social media but said he wasn’t worried, as the film was "purely based on facts." Last week, he won the Personality of the Year award at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Having gained recognition for his work in 2023’s '12th Fail' and the Netflix movie 'Sector 26,' Massey expressed gratitude for the “phenomenal” support from his fans over the years. He also mentioned that he has one more project set for release in 2025, marking a temporary departure from his acting career.

Massey made his acting debut with the 2007 television series 'Dhoom Machao Dhoom' and gained widespread recognition for his role in the 2008 drama 'Balika Vadhu'. He began his Bollywood career with the 2013 film 'Lootera' alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. However, the 2017 independent film 'A Death in the Gunj 'propelled his career to new heights, showcasing his versatility and earning critical acclaim.

Massey, who recently became a father, welcomed his first child, son Vardaan, with his actor-wife Sheetal Thakur in February.
