Urmila Matondkar has filed for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage, according to a source close to the couple. The filing took place in Bandra, Mumbai, around four months ago, and reports suggest that the separation is not mutual.
According to The Times of India, the 50-year-old actor made the decision to file for divorce after careful consideration. A source from a Mumbai court mentioned that the reason for the separation remains unknown.
While Urmila follows 150 people on Instagram, her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, is not one of them, although she has not deleted any pictures with him. The last post featuring the couple together was from Eid 2023, where Urmila shared a photo with Mohsin, captioning it, “May all prayers for Peace and Harmony be accepted… Love, Kindness, and Compassion prevail!”
That same year, Urmila also shared a birthday post for her husband, writing: “OMG… Goodness, kindness, generosity of soul, and a kindred spirit have never looked better than this. Happy Birthday, dear hubby."
To mark their seventh anniversary, Urmila shared a post with the caption, “Then and now… 7 years on, and no, not counting because we’re too busy living it up. Busy celebrating life, love, goodness, kindness, and blessings.”
Urmila Matondkar tied the knot with Kashmiri businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir in a private ceremony in 2016, attended by close friends and family. The couple reportedly met through their mutual friend, celebrity designer Manish Malhotra. They have yet to address the news of their separation.
