Mumbai: Rakhi Sawant, the well-known and often controversial figure in Bollywood who has been in the headlines due to matters related to her estranged husband Adil Khan Durrani, embarked on a journey to Makkah today to perform Umrah, a pilgrimage.
The spiritual journey comes amidst a backdrop of ongoing controversies and serious allegations made by her ex-husband, Adil Khan Durrani, who had to spend time in jail following her complaint of domestic violence and assault.
Having embraced Islam during her nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony) with Adil Khan Durrani last year, Rakhi even changed her name to 'Fatima' to reflect her newfound faith.
Her pilgrimage to Umrah was a wish she had been expressing for several months, and on the morning of August 25, she was seen boarding a flight wearing a hijab.
In a heartwarming video shared by the popular Bollywood paparazzi account Viral Bhayani on Instagram, Rakhi Sawant expressed her feelings, "Assalamualaikum. I am very fortunate that today I am going for Umrah for the first time. And I have been invited. I am so happy. Please remember me in your prayers, I will pray for everyone."
The past year has been nothing short of tumultuous in Rakhi Sawant's life. From her conversion to Islam and marriage to Adil Khan Durrani to the recent upheaval caused by allegations levelled against her by her ex-husband, her journey has been marked by both personal growth and public scrutiny.
Rakhi's Instagram account, which boasts over 10 million followers, has seemingly become unavailable. In an interaction with the paparazzi, Rakhi mentioned, "I don't have access, Adil and Rajshree have hacked my account, they don't let me eat or sleep. I go home and they just continue to torture me."
As Rakhi embarks on her spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia, her fans and followers are left both inspired by her commitment to her faith and concerned about the controversies that continue to surround her.
