Priyanka Chopra’s mother says nuclear family setup is bad

Dr. Madhu Chopra, mother of global icon Priyanka Chopra, shared her perspective on family dynamics, advocating against the concept of a nuclear family and highlighting the value of a joint family setup.

She said the nuclear family setup should be thrown out of the window.

Emphasising the strong bond within their extended family, Madhu Chopra revealed that both Priyanka and her brother Siddhant were raised in a joint family environment, cherishing their connections with cousins and distant relatives.

Expressing immense pride in her children, particularly in Priyanka's growth, Madhu Chopra highlighted their close-knit family relationships. She highlighted the importance of family in her children's lives, attributing their upbringing not just to her but to the collective care provided by the extended family.

"My kids grew up with their maasi, mani, mama, and cousins. Family is most important to me, and the same goes for the kids," she stated, underscoring the significance of familial bonds in Priyanka's interviews.

As a working mother, Madhu Chopra mentioned that her children were raised by the entire family, ensuring they remained closely connected with their relatives. She expressed that despite her professional commitments, she prioritised maintaining family ties, resulting in a deep appreciation for the joint family system among her children.

The Chopra family frequently organises impromptu get-togethers, celebrating the bond shared among the numerous cousins from both sides of the family. Madhu Chopra highlighted the inseparable connection among the cousins, mentioning that their closeness is so profound that distinguishing between cousins and biological siblings becomes challenging.

"Even after me, they will be there for each other," Madhu Chopra concluded, focusing on the enduring strength and support within their joint family system.
