Vestavia Hills, Alabama: Another shooting spree during a church service left two dead and one injured whose condition was unknown, reports say.

Police officials said they along with emergency workers quickly responded to shooting at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills on Thursday at 6.22 pm local time, according to Newsweek.

Captain Shane Ware, public information officer for the Vestavia Police, said that a lone suspect entered the church and opened firing.

The suspect was arrested, said the police adding that there was no threat to the community at this time.

The church was observing an event called "Bloomers Potluck" when the shooting started.

Only 24 hours before another shooting at a community center in Columbus Ohio claimed two lives, injuring two others.

Dozens people have been killed in the ongoing spate of gun violence in the US, making the country highly unsafe.

The debate surrounding gun control is heating up with thousands taking to streets days before demanding stricter gun control.

President Joe Biden expressed support to the rally taken out by March For Our Lives .

Shooting became frequent after the mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, followed by another deadlier attack on children at an elementary school, killing 19 kids, in Uvalde, Texas.

Newsweek reported that this year at least there were 8,956 deaths, including 164 children and 598 teenagers.
