Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine: Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian industrial town of Zaporizhzhia has killed 17 people, including a child. On Thursday, seven missiles hit the town, as per Ukrainian authorities' account on Saturday, Agence France-Presse reported.

They said that three of the missiles landed in the centre of the town, mere 40 km away from the military artillery of the southern front.

AFP quoted Ukrainian State Emergency Service, "In total, 17 people were killed," which it informed through Telegram

Earlier on Saturday, the death tally was only one, but later increased to 14 and now 17. In the attack, a 14 storied residential building was completely brought to the ground.

Reacting to the incident, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Zaporizhzhia is being targeted with rocket attacks every day, and it is a deliberate crime.

The town, controlled by Ukraine, is situated in the Zaporizhzhia region. It also houses the Russian-occupied nuclear plant, which faces heavy shelling.

Though Russian forces could not take control over the region so far, Moscow claims that it has annexed the region.

Further, as per Ukraine's information, 30 people were killed last week after a convoy of civilian cars in the Zaporizhzhia region suffered mass shelling. Kyiv has blamed Moscow for the attack.
