UK, EU agree on post-Brexit deal
text_fieldsBrussels: After a long and arduous negotiation process, the United Kingdom and the European Union have announced a trade agreement for the post-Brexit period.
A spokesman for the British Prime Minister said that the agreement fulfils all the promises made by the government to its people.
"The agreement is concluded. We have regained control of our money, our borders, our laws, our trade and fishing waters," the spokesman said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Line said that a fair and balanced agreement had been reached with Britain, considering that the negotiations were long and difficult.
"The time has come to turn the page on Brexit and look to the future," added Von der Leyen. The European Commission President affirmed that cooperation with Britain will continue for the interests of both parties at all levels.
However, European Council President Charles Michel said that they will review the agreement with the European Parliament before ratifying.
Soon after the announcement of the agreement, the British pound gained its highest value since two and a half years.
