Netanyahu confirms he okayed pager attacks in Lebanon: report

New York: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly confirmed that he has ‘Okayed’ the vicious pager attacks in Lebanon killing nearly 40 and wounding 3,000 Hezbollah members in September, according to news agency AFP.

A spokesperson for Netanyahu told the news agency that the prime minister confirmed on Sunday that ‘He greenlighted the pager operation in Lebanon’.

Sending shock waves across the militant outfit’s strongholds, thousands of pagers, which it used as a low-tech means of communication to evade Israeli tracking, exploded on September 17 and 18.

Many of those grievously injured in the attack lost their fingers and some lost their eyesight.

Vowing to avenge the attack, Hezbollah termed the attack an "Israeli breach" of its communication network.

The pager explosion in Lebanon came hours after Israel announced that it was broadening the aims of the war.

Meanwhile, Lebanon lodged a complaint with the United Nations Labour Agency calling the attack an ‘egregious war against humanity’.

Since the war in Gaza started after October 7 attack in Israel, Israel and Hezbollah have been fighting across the Lebanese border.
