George and Amal Clooneys

New York: An ardent supporter of United States President Joe Biden and one of the leading fundraisers for the Democratic Party, Hollywood Actor George Clooney urged Biden to end his reelection campaign. Clooney, one of the Hollywood elites who provide prime support to the party, made an emotional and heartfelt plea to Biden in this regard, Agence France-Presse reported. Clooney is the latest in a growing list of individuals who called the 81-year-old Biden to step aside.

The actor wrote in the New York Times that he loves Biden, considers him a friend, and believes in him. However, the one battle Biden cannot win is the fight against time, Clooney wrote.

It was only last month that Clooney co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser with Biden in Los Angeles, and the event was attended by former president Barack Obama. The event had raised $28 million, Biden's campaign had informed then.

Clooney continued that it is devastating to tell Biden to step aside, "but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe' big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010," Clooney was quoted by AFP.

"He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate," AFP quoted him. This was a direct challenge to Biden's claim that his poor debate showing was a one-off.

He said that "the dam has broken" on House Democrats publicly calling for Biden to withdraw. He said that the top Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi, along with senators, representatives and other candidates who are facing a loss in the upcoming polls, must ask Biden to step aside.
