Khartoum city: As fighting between two groups continues in the capital city of Sudan, Khartoum, the Indian embassy in the African nation has been temporarily shifted from the capital to Port Sudan. Fighting has intensified in Khartoum.

The foreign ministry shared the development on Twitter. The statement read: "In view of the prevailing security situation in Sudan, including attacks in Khartoum city, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Khartoum will be temporarily relocated to Port Sudan. The situation will be assessed in the light of further developments."

Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi also tweeted a list of phone numbers that can be used to approach the embassy.

There are reports that the army of Sudan and its rival paramilitary force has agreed on a seven-day truce from May 4 to 11. However, previous truces weren't successful.
