Bangalore rural: Promising that the Vrishabhavati Lift Irrigation Project will be a permanent solution for the water problems faced by Bengaluru City, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone for it in the Nelamangala Assembly Constituency on Monday, Asian News International reported.

The project is also expected to cater for the needs of rural areas surrounding Bengaluru and the Tumkur districts.

Speaking after laying the foundation for the project, along with some government development works in the constituency, Siddaramaiah said that the government had spent 3000 crore rupees on KC Valley and MN Valley. Further, it is spending Rs 2240 crore on the Vrishabhavati project. The project intends to fill 70 lakes with water in the first phase, increasing groundwater levels in four districts. This will, in turn, increase the economic power of the people with water support to their lands.

Later, the CM praised Congress MLA Srinivas for his dedication and commitment to the work he does. He urged the people to continue their support of Srinivas, ensuring victory for him in the party in future elections.

Then he criticized the Modi government in the Centre for refusing to supply rise to the Kannada state as well as criticizing the state's decision to credit money directly into people's accounts. The CM said that BJP has developed a habit of insulting the poor.

He elaborated that the state requested the Centre to provide rice for ₹ 34 per kg, but the Centre refused. The BJP is not ashamed to refuse food to the poor, he said. When the state decided to credit money to everyone's account, the party kept humiliating the beneficiaries, the Congress CM alleged.
