Google Lens introduces voice search and enhanced shopping capabilities

Google Lens has introduced new updates, adding a voice search feature and improved tools for finding similar products online.

Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, the voice search feature allows users to point their camera at an object, hold the shutter, and ask questions, with the AI providing quick responses. Currently, this feature is accessible globally through the Google app on Android and iOS, though it currently only supports English.

In addition to voice search, Google has enhanced the shopping experience with Google Lens.

When users capture an image of a product, the updated tool will not only identify the exact item and suggest similar alternatives, but it will also display detailed information, such as product reviews, price comparisons across retailers, and purchasing options.

This upgrade uses Google’s AI technology and the Shopping Graph, which compiles data from 45 billion products to provide comprehensive shopping insights.

These new features follow Google Lens’s recent addition of a short video-based search option. Users can now long-press the shutter button to record up to 20 seconds of video, which is then analyzed by Gemini AI for relevant answers. This function allows users to ask questions about actions or moving objects, further broadening Google Lens's search and shopping capabilities.
