This year's Human Rights Day arrived amidst a severe escalation of human rights violations. The day before that, on December 9, yet another UN Day was observed. It was the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Genocide Convention, which is also known as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. Even as the genocide in Gaza reaches its 75th day, the UN has chosen to perpetuate the genocide rather than intervene to stop it. Of the 15 member states, thirteen voted in favour of a cease-fire in Gaza at a Security Council meeting convened by the U.N. secretary-general in a rare exercise of special powers vested with him. Britain abstained from voting. Only one nation, the United States, voted against it. That US veto ensured that the genocide in Gaza continued. President Joe Biden (Americans now call him Genocide Joe) has shown so much servility to Israel by diverging from many UN policies, the declared interests of a significant portion of the global population, and even at the risk of his own political future that his stance has surprised even the Americans. Polls indicate that the U.S. exercised its demonic veto at the U.N as opposed to the opinions of 80 per cent of Democrats and 56 per cent of Republicans. It is now clear that U.S. Secretary of State Blinken's public appeal to Israel to protect the civilians in Gaza was just a ploy to convince the world and that America is an active participant in this genocide.

The criticism that the US Department of State has become a subsidiary of Israel's Ministry of Defense is not out of place. The policies of the Zionist lobby in Israel are taking precedence over the aspirations and opinions of the American people. Many key figures in the Biden administration are loyal to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). There are already accusations that the Palestinian people are being used to test weapons for arms manufacturing companies owned by American and Israeli elites. It was only recently that 'Local Call’, a Hebrew magazine in Israel, reported that artificial intelligence capable of causing widespread destruction and mass casualties, is being used in Gaza. Shortly after vetoing the resolution at the UN Security Council, the Biden administration took another unusual step. Biden used an emergency authority to allow the sale of about 14,000 tank shells to Israel bypassing congressional rules. Usually, such arms transfers should undergo due diligence and have approval by Congress, a democratic process that typically takes at least 20 days. What is it other than the desire to carry out as many weapon tests and massacres as possible by bypassing this very democratic process before facing global pressure for a ceasefire?

The hypocrisy of providing arms to Israel unconditionally on the one hand and on the other hand stating that the country has been advised not to kill civilians in Gaza is disgustingly obvious. The US is now providing Israel with ten and a half billion dollars worth of shells by bypassing Congress. Apart from this, the arms grant of 50 crore dollars, which is now under consideration by the Congress, is going to be decided. Biden allegedly intends a total arms trade of 14 billion dollars. Those sitting at the top of the US administration are not ignorant of what Israel has been doing with these weapons. An avowed Zionist, Biden and his associates are complicit in the death of nearly 9,600 children; a total of over 20,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza alone, and they evidently are not satisfied with this. Israel, which drives the Gazans away from their homes displacing them, bombards and flattens every place. The US has shown its true colours by actively supporting Israel in carrying out this unprecedented mass slaughter, genocide and other war crimes in recent times. If the Prime Minister of Israel becomes the head of the United States, it is the whole world which should be afraid, not just Gaza.
