New Delhi: The RSS-affiliated organisation Muslim Rashtriya Manch informed that it will hold more than 100 press conferences and 500 seminars across the country to make the Muslim community aware of the Waqf Amendment Law’s objectives and benefits.

The organisation’s mentor, Indresh Kumar, said that it is committed to rooting out misconceptions and rumours surrounding the new Waqf law, India Today reported.

Kumar claimed that the law wouldstrengthen the Muslim community's self-respect, justice, and equality rights.

"The Manch would organise over 100 press conferences and more than 500 seminars across the country to ensure that the objectives and benefits of this law reach every individual,” India Today quoted Kumar.

He further claimed that the organisation’s campaign intends to shed light on the long-standing issues of misuse and mismanagement of Waqf properties. Waqf Amendment Act would ensure their transparent and equitable use, benefitting all sections of society, he claimed. He also claimed that the new law was not against anyone but was in the interest of all Muslims.

The Waqf Amendment Act, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday morning and the Rajya Sabha on Friday morning, was signed by President Draupadi Murmu and given her assent on Saturday midnight. Before the President signed it, Congress whip Mohammad Javed, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and human rights organisation APCR had moved the Supreme Court. On Sunday, Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind approached the Supreme Court against the bill.

After the President signed the bill, the Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama filed its petition in the Supreme Court from Kerala through advocate Zulfiqar Ali. Samastha pointed out in the petition that the law was brought to convert Waqf properties into government property and that the amendment to the Waqf Act would weaken the Waqf Boards.
