Withdraw cases against intellectuals: Telugu littérateurs

Hyderabad:  As many as 140 intellectuals from the Telugu states have demanded the government to withdraw the FIR against 49 intellectuals.

The writers and poets from Telugu states said that intellectuals from various field who had written to PM Modi had only sought the intervention of PM in mob lynching.

Those wrote to PM include Shyam Benegal, Aparna Sen, Maniratnam, Ramachandra Guha, Shubha Mudgal and others.

However, an FIR was filed against them on October 3 in Muzaffarpur in Bihar. 

The intellectual from Telungana said in their statement that voices of dissent also have to be heard in a democracy.
