UAE delegation arrives in Lebanon to reopen embassy in Beirut
text_fieldsA high-level UAE delegation has arrived in Beirut to make necessary arrangements for reopening the country’s embassy in Lebanon. The diplomatic move follows the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed and comes after a pivotal call between him and Joseph Aoun, Lebanon’s newly elected president.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed the development in an official statement, emphasizing the historical bonds between the nations.
"Reopening the embassy reflects the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries and their peoples," the statement read.
The MoFA reiterated the UAE’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity. It also expressed unwavering support for the Lebanese people amid the country’s ongoing economic and political struggles.
Aoun, who serves as the Lebanese army chief, was elected as president during a second round of parliamentary voting, marking the end of a presidential vacuum that lasted over two years in the crisis-hit nation. Lebanon has been grappling with significant economic turmoil, further compounded by political deadlock.
The reopening of the UAE embassy is seen as a sign of strengthening diplomatic relations and a potential step toward fostering regional cooperation and stability.
