Saudi teen Ritaj Al-Hazmi achieves second Guinness record as youngest newspaper columnist
text_fieldsThe 15-year-old Saudi columnist and author Ritaj Al-Hazmi has secured her second Guinness World Record, this time for being the world's youngest female newspaper columnist, reported Arab News. Al-Hazmi first gained recognition at the age of 12 for being the youngest female to publish a book series.
Transitioning from literature to journalism, Al-Hazmi is now making waves by reporting on the transformation of Saudi Arabia. Her articles shed light on the potential of a new generation of youth to revolutionize the Kingdom's economy, aligning with the ambitious Vision 2030 program.
Al-Hazmi, who authored 10 articles for Arab News, delved into various projects in Saudi Arabia, including The Line and NEOM. Her coverage extended to subjects such as Saudi Arabia's space program, cultural preservation, sustainability, and local initiatives.
Expressing her optimism for the future of the Kingdom, Al-Hazmi stated, "With the many initiatives and programs we see today, I believe we will be able to see huge progress throughout the next few years that will not only hone the new generation's potential but also assure a thriving economy."
Al-Hazmi's journey into writing began at the tender age of six when she started crafting short stories. Encouraged by her family, she enrolled in creative writing classes, paving the way for her to publish her first English-language novels, "Treasure of the Lost Sea" and "Portal of the Hidden World," at the age of 10 in 2019. In 2021, she added to her literary achievements with her third novel, "Beyond the Future World."
Asked about advice for aspiring writers, Al-Hazmi emphasized passion and perseverance. "If you're passionate about being a writer, then one thing you should remember is that no matter the hardships you may face, you should always strive to move forward. Writing is a way to share your thoughts and opinions with the world. It's a creative process, a kind of art that has many different forms. Find your style!"
With her latest Guinness World Record, Al-Hazmi announced the achievement on social media, stating, "New title in the Guinness World Records as the youngest newspaper writer. This is after I published more than nine articles in the newspaper Arab News, all of which talk about the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and empowering the new generation."
