Sleep cycle, an app that specializes in measuring the quality of sleep, has revealed that Saudis are among the last people to sleep.

The weekly statistics showed that Saudis go to sleep at 1:22 a.m, which puts them in the first place in the world as the last people to go to sleep, followed by the Turks in second place at 1:21 a.m. and in the third-place Egyptians who go to sleep at 1:13 a.m.

South Africans go to sleep earliest at 11:06 p.m, tailed by Guatemala at 11:13 and Costa Ricans in third place at 11:16 p.m. The weekly stats show that Netherlands, United Kingdom and Belgium are proprietors of quality sleeping, while Vietnam, Korea, Japan stood the opposite. Meanwhile, India topped the list of the 'most snoring'. Indians snore for 44mins, followed by Guatemala and Malta who snore for 43 and 41 minutes, respectively.

In 1942, 8 hours of sleep was the standard while 6.8 hours is the current average. The suggested range of sleep for an adult is 7-9 hours a night. However, recent data shows that no country manages to achieve 8 hours of sleep regularly. Less than 30 per cent of the world's population get an average of 8 hours of sleep.

Another study reveals that later bedtime caused an increased risk of angina pectoris which occurs when the heart muscles don't get as much blood as it needs. The right amount of sleep enhances body metabolism and removes toxic proteins from the brain which may lead to neurodegenerative disease.
