COVID-19: Maharashtra postpones HSC/SSC Board exams

Following the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra state government on Monday announced its decision to postpone the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) examinations for the current academic year to the end of May and June as recommended by the School Education Ministry. Discussions were also held with stakeholders such as the State Covid-19 task force, tech giants, parents, teachers and others.

Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad informed that while the HSC exams are likely to be held by the end of May, SSC exams might be held in June. She added that the new dates should be announced soon.

"Considering the current Covid-19 situation in the state which are not conducive to conduct the exams, we have postponed the Class X SSC and Class XII HSC exams. It appears to be the most pragmatic solution since the health of the students is our priority," Gaikwad said in a statement.
