Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor sales in Kerala witnessed another record on the eve of ‘Janta Curfew’ called by the Prime Minister.
Stats show that liquor of more than Rs. 80 crore were sold through bars and beverage outlets on Saturday.
Liquor of Rs. 63.92 crores were sold through Beverages outlets and of Rs. 12.68 were sold through warehouses and of Rs. 5 crores through Consumerfed outlets.
The state has 265 outlets of Beverages Corporation and 36 outlets of Consumerfed.
On an average, liquor of Rs. 26 crore to Rs. 30 crore are sold per day in Kerala. It means that the state witnessed a surge of around 120 percent in the consumption on eve of Janta Curfew. It was beyond the projections of the authorities.
