Bhopal: A woman in Madhya Pradesh sought divorce after her husband took her to Ayodhya contrary to his promise of a trip to Goa for their honeymoon, Free Press Journal reported.

Ten days after returning from their trip, the woman approached the Bhopal family court on January 19 just five months into their marriage.

The woman claimed in her petition that her husband is employed in IT sector with a handsome salary and she too is earning well, meaning the couple could have travelled abroad for their honeymoon.

The man, however, insisted on visiting a place in India itself because he had to look after his parents.

Eventually the couple settled on visiting Goa or South India for their honeymoon.

But he booked flights to Ayodhya and Varanasi without disclosing the change of travel plan until only days before the trip.

He reportedly told her they were going to Varanasi as his mother wanted to visit the city before Ram Mandir consecration ceremony.

Without objecting to the trip at the time she went ahead with his plans and later when they returned she approach the court seeking divorce.

She argued that her husband took more care of his family members than her.

Her husband said that his wife was just making a fuss and the couple is now receiving counselling at the court.
