UP sets up SIT to probe senior IAS officer's role in religious conversion

Lucknow: The UP government has ordered an investigation into the incident of senior IAS officer Mohammad Iftikharuddin being seen in videos of an event allegedly organised for religious conversion.
The state Home Department has set up a two-member Special Investigation Team to look into the allegations against Iftikharuddin, who is now the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
The state Home Department in a tweet said that CB-CID Director-General GL Meena will lead the team. The SIT has also been asked to submit a report in seven days.
The video was allegedly shot at a government accommodation in Kanpur where Iftikharuddin held charge as commissioner between February 2014 and April 2017.
In the alleged video, Iftikharuddin is allegedly heard talking about the benefits of adopting Islam as a religion.
