SIR a ‘huge AI scam’, TMC to gherao EC office if voters deleted: Mamata
text_fieldsKolkata: Alleging that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is a massive “scam” being carried out with the use of artificial intelligence, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said the Trinamool Congress will gherao the Election Commission’s office in Delhi if even a single legitimate voter’s name is removed from the electoral rolls.
Addressing a rally in Bankura district, Banerjee claimed that people in the state were being “tortured” in the name of the SIR process.
“Nearly 60 people have died due to SIR. Elderly people are being summoned for document verification hearings,” she alleged.
She warned that the TMC would launch a protest in Delhi if any genuine voter is deleted from the rolls, asserting that the people of West Bengal would not tolerate such “harassment”.
"People will not allow BJP to come to power in West Bengal," she claimed.
She also alleged that while the BJP speaks of building a ‘sonar Bangla’ whenever elections approach, in reality, people who speak Bengali are being assaulted in states ruled by the party.
