On Thursday morning, the UP administration had enforced a ban on large gatherings and put up barricades, at the borders citing the coronavirus.
The Congress leaders convoy was stopped at Greater Noida at a point that is about 142 km to Hathras. They stepped out of their vehicle and walked with Congress workers towards Hathras. After moving a few steps ahead, they were pushed back by UP policemen.
In visuals, the Congress leader was clearly seen pushed by policemen and was shoved by the cops and fell to the ground amid the chaos.
"Just now police pushed me, lathicharged me and threw me on the ground. I want to ask, can only (Narendra) Modiji walk in this country? Can't a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking," Rahul Gandhi told the media.
Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rajiv Shukla and several other top leaders were walking towards Hathras to meet the family of the victim, a day after the last rites of the rape victim was performed during the dead-night-hours after whisking her body away from the body without letting the families for a last look.
