New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday applauded the statue of Sardar Patel at Canada's Sanatan Mandir Cultural Center.

The statue at the Cultural Center, according to him, would become a symbol of India-Canada relations.

PM Modi made these remarks at a programme in Canada's Markham where a statue of Sardar Patel was being unveiled at the Sanatan Mandir Cultural Center, reports say.

Calling it as the replica of Unity, he said the statue would become an inspiration for India.

Remembering Sardar Patel, PM Modi said Patel restored the Somnath temple reminding India of its thousands of years of heritage.

He said an Indian living anywhere in the world for generations would not give up Indianness and devotion to India.

Democratic values and sense of duty from Indian ancestors would live in the heart of Indians, according to him.

Besides being a country, India according to PM Modi is a great tradition, ideological establishment and a stream of culture.

Praising idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, (the world as one family), he said India wouldn't dream of its growth at the cost of others' loss.

As for sustainable development, Prime Minister Modi said India's voice represented the entire humanity.
