Mend own party and set it in order: Mayawati slams Rahul
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Bahujan Samaj Party head Mayawati has slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, rejecting the latter's claim that she ignored Rahul's offer to form an alliance during Uttar Pradesh polls and chief minister's post in the state, The Indian Express reported.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Mayawati said that Congress can't mend its own way or set its own house in order but intrudes in BSP's matters. Congress and Rahul Gandhi must think 100 times before commenting on the BSP, she added. Rahul's claims that BSP is scared of the BJP are entirely false. The Congress leader's comments show his inferior feeling and malevolence towards Dalits and the BSP party itself, she said.
She said that BSP had not been made fun of around the world or it is not a party where a leader forcefully hugs the Prime Minister in the Parliament, which Rahul Gandhi had performed. She further stated that BJP and RSS are not only making India 'Congress-mukt' but also 'Opposition-mukt'. India will be left with a single dominant party from national to village levels, the same as China.
Mayawati's outburst surfaced a day after Rahul Gandhi's claims came. He had said that Congress approached her to form an alliance in UP but did not receive any positive response. It was because she was under pressure from central probe agencies, he had added.
Rahul had said that Mayawati did not fight in the elections. People like Kanshi Ram gave blood and sweat to awaken the Dalit voice in UP, but Mayawati said she was not fighting for that voice, he had said.
In the recent UP elections, BSP secured only one seat- 12.8 per cent vote share- while Congress bagged two seats out of the 403 seats in the state assembly.
