New Delhi: Taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed against the outgoing Wrestling Federation Chief Brij Bushan Sharan Singh, a Delhi court has summoned him along with Vinod Tomar over alleged sexual harassment, assault and stalking of six women wrestlers. Vinod Tomar is the suspended assistant secretary of WFI.

The allegations and subsequent protest in Delhi by female wrestlers against the BJP MP received international attention.

Now the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal at the Rouse Avenue court directed Brij Bhushan and Tomar to appear on July 18, according to The Indian Express.

Seven female wrestlers including a minor accused Singh of sexual harassment and filed complaints at Connaught Place police station on April 21.

However, the wrestlers had to approach the Supreme Court complaining that the police were not registering FIRs.

Later on April 28, police filed two FIRs stating at least two instances of Singh allegedly seeking 'sexual favours' offering professional support, according to the report.

The BJP MP is facing charges under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the Indian Penal Code.

These sections respectively deal with outraging a woman’s modesty, sexual harassment, and stalking.

Alongside charges of sexual harassment and outraging a woman’s modesty, Vinod Tomar is accused of abetting an offence and criminal intimidation.
