Ayodhya: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has levelled a communal allegation against the Congress, claiming the party had allowed namaz to be offered even on the steps of the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya for vote-bank politics. He made the remarks during a visit to Ayodhya amid widespread discussion over the alleged Ram Temple donation theft.

The Chief Minister also questioned whether opposition parties would permit the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa inside Delhi's Jama Masjid. He accused previous governments of treating faith merely as a tool for securing votes and alleged that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party were now speaking about religious faith only to mislead the public.

Adityanath further claimed that Ayodhya had been completely neglected under earlier governments. Despite being located on the banks of the Sarayu River, he said the city lacked basic amenities such as drinking water, roads and electricity, while drainage problems remained unresolved. He asserted that pilgrims had long been denied even essential infrastructure.

Highlighting his government's record, Adityanath claimed that development projects worth more than ₹432 crore had been implemented in Ayodhya since the BJP came to power.

The Chief Minister's remarks have, however, triggered sharp criticism on social media. Critics alleged that the government was attempting to divert public attention from the financial irregularities and ongoing investigations linked to the Ram Temple Trust by making controversial communal statements. Many also accused the BJP of using religious issues for political gains.

Adityanath's comments come at a time when allegations surrounding irregularities in the Ram Temple Trust continue to dominate public and political discussions.
