Cleaning, lying down in cowshed can cure cancer: UP Minister claims
text_fieldsLucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Singh Gangwar claimed that stroking the back of a cow can help lower blood pressure, PTI has reported.
Sanjay Singh Gangwar, who is the minister of state for sugarcane development and sugar mills, extolled the medical benefits of tending the cows without referring to any scientific evidence.
Cleaning a cowshed and lying down there according to him can cure cancer.
The minister was inaugurating the Kanha Gaushala in Nougawa Pakadiya when he made the remarks.
The Pilibhit MLA said that ‘If a cancer patient starts cleaning a cowshed and lying there, even cancer can be cured.’
Without giving any clinical evidence, he said a person stroking a cow every morning and evening can reduce the intake of blood pressure medicine from 20-mg dose to 10-mg within ten days.
‘If there is a blood pressure patient, there are cows here,’ the state minister reportedly claimed.
He also urged the Muslims to come to the cowshed on Eid. "The vermicelli made on Eid should be made in cow's milk."
Further, he said cow dung cakes can help get rid of mosquitoes, adding that ‘Everything that a cow produces is useful in some way.’
"Our effort is to connect people with the gaushalas. People have also been requested to celebrate their wedding anniversaries, birthday of their children with the cows and donate fodder to the gaushala," the minister said.
Gangwar had contested the 2012 assembly election on a BSP ticket but lost.
In 2017, he joined the BJP and won from the Pilibhit seat. He again won the election in 2022 and was made a minister.
Gangwar hits the headlines frequently, mainly because of attacks on former BJP MP Varun Gandhi.
Responding to the complaints about stray cattle grazing fields, the minister said ‘We are not serving our mother, so the mother is harming us somewhere.’
