Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai on Friday said that the party will not be joining hands with any of the Dravidian parties in any election. He said he will resign if that happens.

He also claimed that the BJP will grow if it stands alone in Tamil Nadu and does not want to face the polls with the support of any Dravidian party in the upcoming elections. If the party forms a political alliance with a Dravidian party in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai said he will only continue as a party cadre, reported The News Minute.

The senior leader also sought a meeting with PM Modi.

He was speaking at a meeting with BJP functionaries in Aminjikarai. A few days ago, there was unrest between the BJP and AIADMK following the tension over BJP's Tamil Nadu IT wing head CT Nirmala Kumar quitting the party to join the AIADMK.

Several BJP functionaries made the same move in the recent past. In March, 13 members of BJP's IT cell quit and joined AIADMK.

Earlier this week, he reportedly said that the AIADMK is a senior party in NDA and assured that BJP's alliance with it is intact.

There was confusion among the party members over the matter and many sought clarity. The party’s state Vice President Narayanan Tirupati asked Annamali to give an explanation for his speech. Coimbatore South MLA and National President of the BJP Mahila Morcha Vanathi Srinivasan asked what was the reason to discuss this in the party's state-level executive meeting instead of notifying the Central Committee's notice.
