Bajaj Finance employee dies by suicide, blames work pressure

Lucknow: A 42-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi died by suicide accusing his seniors at loan company Bajaj Finance of pressuring him to meet target over the past two months, NDTV reported.

Tarun Saxena, who is an area manager with the loan company, has left behind a note in which he alleged that his seniors had threatened him with salary deduction for not having met targets..

Saxena’s suicide from alleged work pressure comes days after reports emerged about the death of 26 years old Anna Sebastian Perayil from work pressure at the Ernst & Young (EY).

Tarun Saxena, who is survived by his parents, wife Megha and children Yatharth and Pihu, was found dead by the house help.

He had locked his wife and two children in another room and left behind a five-page letter addressing his wife, before taking his life.

Saxena narrated the immense pressure he was undergoing at office saying that he could not meet targets nevertheless the tried his best.

He worried about losing job after failing in his task of collecting EMIs of Bajaj Finance loans from his area due to several issues.

Describing the mental tension he was undergoing, Saxena said ‘I have lost my ability to think. I am going.’

Detailing his sufferings further, Saxena said he and his colleague had to pay for the EMIs they were not able to recover.

Despite he raised problems in collecting EMIs with seniors, they did not pay attention to him, Saxena said adding ‘I have not slept for 45 days. I have hardly eaten. I am under a lot of stress’.

He alleged that his senior managers were pressuring him to ‘meet targets at any cost or quit.’

In his note to the wife, Saxena said that he had paid children’s school fee for the year-end, adding that ‘You all take care of Megha, Yatharth and Pihu. Mummy, Papa’.

He advised his children to study well and take care of their mother alongside asking his relatives to ensure his family is paid the insurance money.

Taking names of his senior who pressured him, Saxena asked his family to file police complaint against them, saying that ‘They are responsible for my decision.’

Saxena’s cousin Gaurav Saxena reportedly said that the man was being pressured to increase loan recovery.

Senior police officer Vinod Kumar Gautam promised action after receiving complaint from Saxena’s family against those mentioned in the note.
