Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Thursday accused the Centre of diverting attention from fuel price rise and consumer inflation, saying a bill on weapon of mass destruction was passed by the Lok Sabha .

The government's real strength lies in its "weapons of mass distraction" despite passing a bill on Weapons of Mass Destruction in Lok Sabha

In a tweet, Ms Tharoor said that the government should have had the courage to listen to a serious debate on fuel price hikes and consumer inflation instead of adjourning early.

"It's clear that GOI doesn't want to discuss prices at any price!" said Tharoor

"Though LS passed a Bill on Weapons of Mass Destruction, GOI's real strength is its Weapons of Mass Distraction. Aided & abetted by a complicit media, pointless controversies over halal, hijab & azaan have driven away the focus from price rise," he tweeted

On Thursday, Parliament completed its Budget Session one day early.
